One of the main causes of the decline in the number of wildlife species in West Kalimantan is exploitation, poaching for trade, rearing, consumption. Other causes are habitat reduction and fragmentation due to conversion of natural forests to oil palm plantations, IUPHHK-HT, illegal logging, forest and land fires.
